Purdy Painting Tools. | A Review. |

Several months ago, when I was trying to muster up the motivation to tackle the kitchen/dining room re-do, I was contacted about trying out some Purdy brand painting tools.

They left the choice up to me about which product(s) to try out, but honestly, I was overwhelmed by the choices. There are so many! I finally emailed back and said I would be thrilled to try out whatever they would like to send me.

They sent me a 9" cageless frame, a 3/8" nap Ultra Finish Roll Cover (which is good for glossy paint), and a 2.5" angled XL Elite brush for cutting in corners, ceilings and floors.

Here are some of the features of the 9" cageless frame

Cageless design for smoothest rolling action

No thumping provides an even, consistent application

Long-lasting, durable frame

Fits all standard roller covers

Universal threaded end and QuickFit™ compatibility

Patent-pending design

My very favorite thing about the roller frame was that it made the roller cover amazingly easy to get on and off.

Usually, with the traditional style roller, it's kind of tough to slide the roller cover on or off, especially if the roller frame has been used for many painting jobs.

This cageless frame made it very easy to get the roller cover on and off, no matter how many times I had to start painting, and stop, and take the roller cover on and off.

The frame is definitely no joke. It is very sturdy, and clearly made to get some painting done.

I loved it.

Here are some of the features of the 3/8" nap Ultra Finish Roll Cover

Designed for all paints and finishes

Provides the smoothest finish of any roller

Made of lint-free, premium microfiber fabric

Distributes paint evenly on walls for an ultra smooth finish

Ideal for semi-gloss and high-gloss finishes

Available in ⅜” and ½” naps

This roll cover was crazy soft, and made for a very smooth application of the paint.

I used a semi-gloss paint, and this roll cover did a great job. Between this roller cover, and the quality of the Dutch Boy paint that I used, I got away with a lot less coats of paint than I thought I would considering how dark the original paint color was that I was painting over.

And last, here are some of the features of the 2.5" angled XL Elite brush

Designed for all paints and stains

Ultimate performance and versatility

Stiff formulation for great results in heavy bodied paints

1” to 2” widths for trim, touch-up and small surface projects

2½” to 3” widths for medium sized surfaces

Available in flat or angular trim brush styles

I loved this brush! The weight of it was probably heavier than what I would have picked for myself, but it did an
amazing job of cutting in at the baseboards, the ceiling, the windows, and the cabinets. The coverage was amazing, the angle was great. It was the only brush I needed to cut in on the whole project, and that is awesome.

Next time you have a painting job on your to-do list, I definitely would recommend adding Purdy products to your list of essential items to get the job done!

  1. I actually love those microfiber rollers and have gone through a ton of them. They hold so much paint and give a nice finish.
